European MPs call for UN investigation into 1984 Sikh massacre
London April 24, 2004 8:15:38 PM IST

By Trevor Barnard
The Sikh Federation (UK) is urging all British Members of the Euro-pean Parliament (MEPs) to support a declaration tabled in the Parliament calling on the United Nations to mount an investigation to decide whether the slaughter of Indian Sikhs in 1984 should be regarded as genocide.

The declaration was tabled last week by four MEPs of the Green Party, two of them from the UK. It urged the European Union to study reports of the events of 1984, including those compiled by the American-based Human Rights Watch and the British-based Amnesty International, and called for a "Commission of Truth and Justice under the auspices of the UN to comprehensively investigate whether the slaughter to which Indian Sikhs were subjected in 1984 constitutes genocide as defined in the Genocide Convention and the relevant international law".

One of the UK MEPs behind the declaration, Caroline Lucas, said that although the Sikhs themselves described the slaughter as genocide, a full UN investigation had never taken place.

Her colleague Joan Lambert said: "Many of those affected and their families have sought refuge in England, and we must ensure truth and justice prevail."

The Sikh Federation was set up last year as a "political" party and is committed to work for the establishment of Khalistan. It is organising a series of promotions to mark the 20th anniversary of the events of 1984. MPs sympathetic to its cause have tabled motions in the British Parliament drawing attention to the issue, and the Federation claims that about 50

MPs have signed the motions, while several members of the Government, including ministers, have written expressing their support.

The Federation has written to every British MEP urging support for the "genocide" declaration, and is appealing to Sikhs across Europe to canvass the support of their MEPs (ANI).

I was very pleased after reading Jarnail Singh's response to Dr. Harbhajan Singh's article on Dasam Granth. I agree with the points you made in your response. It looks like to me that you have extensive knowledge about Dasam Granth and AGGS but Dr. Harbhajan Singh has very limited knowledge about both Granths.

Dr. Harbhajan Singh says that Guru Gobind Singh ji wrote Dasam Granth and meant it to be different in philosophy from AGGS. He also says that if Guru Gobind Singh ji had written DG on the philosophy, then it would have served no purpose. Harbhajan Singh ji, then was it necessary for Guru Gobind Singh ji to write something at all? Then why did not the 6th, 7th and 8th gurus write anything? So if somebody tomorrow brings out some garbage and says that it was written by the 6th, 7th and/or 8th gurus then would you believe in that?

After reading Harbhajan Singh's article, it looks like that instead of reading and analyzing both AGGS and DG, he has only read Ishar Singh Nara's book. Harbhajan Singh ji, I think your article is based on Ishar Singh's book.

Harbhajan Singh ji, you say that we should not treat every word of DG as truth. So you are saying that Guru Gobind Singh ji wrote falsehood, but why did he need to write lies?

The following verses are from Bhagbat Puran, which was written many years before DG was written. It is very ironic that the stanzas from DG and Bhagbat Puran are almost the same.

Stanza from Bhagbat Puran

kfnHAo vfc sYÍXf
dyAUN ibnF inkry nih cIr khXo hs kfnH suno qum ipafrI .
sIq sho jl mYN qum nfhk bfhr afvhu gorI aO kfrI.
dy apny agUaf ipCUvf kr bfr qjo pqlI ar bfrI .
Xo nhI dyhu kihXo hir-jI qslIm kro kr jor hmfrI.

Stanza from DG

kfnH vfc svYXf
dyAU ibnf inkrY nih cIr kihXo his kfnH suno qum ipafrI .
sIq sho jl mYN qum nfhk bfhir afvho gorI aAu kfrI.
dy apuny agUaf ipCUvf kr bfir qjo pqlI ar BfrI .
Xo nih dAuu kihA hir-jI qslIm kro kr jor hmfrI.255.

This proves that if Dasam Guru had written DG, he must have copied Bhagbat Puran. So, if this stanza was written before DG, then either Dasam Guru copied Bhagbat Puran or someone else bonded DG to Dasam Guru's name.

Harbhajan Singh ji, if you have the guts, then please translate all the stanzas from 251-298 into Punjabi and English so everyone can understand Guru's message.
Then the readers can decide for themselves if Dasam Guru could have written this garbage that you claim he has.

If Harbhajan Singh does not translate the stanzas (I would not be surprised if he does not), then readers please click on the following link and read pages 43 to 52 for the translation by Dr. Ratan Singh Jaggi. http://www.gobindsadan.org/institute/dasam/pdf/v2_1.pdf

You said that Guru wrote DG on a different philosophy on purpose. Let's examine the philosophies of AGGS, DG and science.

For example, let's take the question of how this universe came into existence.

DG says that this universe came into existence from earwax.

eyk sRvx qy mYl inkfrf]qfqy mDu kItB qn Dfrf]
duqIa kfn qy mYlu inkfrI] qf qy BeI isRsLit ieh sfrI] d[ gRM[pMnf 47]

AGGS says:

suMn klf aprMpir DfrI ] afip inrflm apr apfrI ] afpy kudriq kir kir dyKY suMnhu suMnu Aupfiedf ] 1] pAux pfxI suMnyY qy sfjy ] isRsit Aupfie kfieaf gV rfjy ] agin pfxI jIAu joiq qumfrI suMny klf rhfiedf ]2] (pMnf 1037)

Scientists today believe that the universe came into existence from an atom which is a vaccum. This theory is established by Dr. Capra in his book Tao of Physics.

Now, lets analyze the three theories. Gurbani and science say the same thing in different words. But DG says something completely different.

You believe in both granths. But they have completely different theories on the same topic. How can you believe in two different things on the same topic. I think you are trying to accomplish the impossible by trying to walk on two paths at the same time.

I think it is time to let go of one. We don't care if you believe in DG, but do not try to attach this garbage with Guru Gobind Singh ji's name.

Thank You
Amrinder Singh

just read the article by Sarvmit Singh about Gurcharan Singh Tohra.

This article has been on there on your home page for a while now and I never thought of reading it. I thought it might be a traditional condolence kind of article describing GS Tohra's life and role in Punjab and its people. I was thinking that the article would be filled with 'false' customary praise as we always do even when that person dies whom we wanted to die for a long time.

On the other hand the article has been written very thoughtfully. It touches the heart of every concerned Punjabi - The last lines of the article that we shall tell to the kids that we lived in a times of such elders (our leaders) when we were always surrounded by disgraceful ambiguity that should we or should we not cry on their death. This line is full of pain that every Punjabi had lived thru under the leadership of leaders like Tohra.

We had a story in our primary school book that tells the heroism of a leader of a tribe of monkeys. The leader monkey helped all the rest of the monkeys under his command to cross over to another tree from one and the leader monkey himself worked as a bridge and let all others pass over his body and he breathed his last while helping the each one his tribe.

We are developed form of those monkeys and we are the followers of Guru Nanak Dev and Guru Gobind Singh. But was this just our fate that we had to live under the 'ugly' leadership of leasers like Tohra ?

Sikhism underwent thru the biggest crisis of modern times when Punjab spent about 15 years of darkness under the barrel of the gun. When a man (so called saint) converted the entire Golden Temple shrine into a fort ( although it was his dream fort). When the young generation was told to carry a revolver and motorcycle to kill 33 members of the other religion. When the Sikhs (and all the Punjabis - since people outside Punjab do not much about Sikh and a Punjabi) living outside Punjab lived on the razor's edge. When an arrogant woman sitting on the throne of the Indian Republic went so berserk to destroy our holiest shrines with the same tanks whom we Punjabis always used to thwart the enemy across our international borders.

That was the time when 'Panth' and all the people of Punjab needed a light to see the real face of the evil forces. That was a very very appropriate time for our leaders to show their real leadership.

Alas ! We did not have that kind of leaders on the front stage and Punjabis and Sikhs today are feeling more divided than ever before. A Sikh in particular feels more insecure outside Punjab than before. Sikhs, once considered as the protectors of rest of India ( and Hindus in particular), were considered as terrorists by the rest of Indians, although the majority of the pain of that militancy period was suffered by Sikhs themselves.

There is a view of many fellow Punjabis and Sikhs that it was the Congress party, and in particular Bibi Indira responsible for the fate of Punjab and she met her fate what she deserved. Well, I do not have sympathy with anyone whosoever played even an iota of a role to defame Punjabis and Sikhs and whosoever was responsible for so much bloodshed. But there is one question mark deeply piercing my heart and Sarvmeet Singh has raised that question again in his article - That is if our own leaders could not show us light at the times when we needed it most , then should we had expected something better from Bibi Indira who I think would care less for Sikhism and Punjab than the claimants of Sikhism like Tohra and Badal.

My dear ones, are we now waiting for the natural death of people like Badal, Chandumajra, Jagdish Tytler, HKL Bhagat or we should do something do give them more than death while they are living.
I have personally suffered so much pain of that period of militancy of Punjab - but thanks to the teachings of our sacred Gurus - my love for Punjab and Punjabis and my hatred for the people like Tohra, is growing each moment.

With all my respects to Sri Harmandir Sahib - and all my heartly feelings to the the families who lost their dear ones under the misguidance of such leaders -that includes the families of innocents killed in buses and streeets, families of riot victims in or outside Punjab, families of the 'innocent' militants killed in fake encounters, families of the 'good' armed forces personnel including Police and military !!

Salute to the resolve of Punjabis who opted not to follow the path of millitancy and fought against the eveil forces with their full courage as real Punjabis.

May we all be blessed with the wisdom to elect a better leader.
Anil Kumar (GHAGGA) - USA.

I am grateful to Dr Gumtala Jee for his valuable contribution in his letter of 23 April. I agree with him hundred percent that it is the civic duty of every citizen that he/she follows the general unwritten code of conduct to keep the environment in general clean and tidy but unfortunately we Indians are best example of filth and unseemliness in the world. We only act if there are GORAAS around. We follow their rules in foreign countries. Theere will be lot of “gand mand” in Canada, America and Britain if it was left to us to maintain the cleanliness. Since in India there are no more GORAAS, we tend to lax on cleanliness. Sri Harmander Sahib Jee is our Vatican, Macca and Madina. If we cannot keep it clean, we are doing disservice to our GURUS. The Punjab generally should be clean and tidy but Amritsar Sahib should be exceptionally clean. JITHEY SAADEY GURUAAN DAA WAASAA RIHAA HOWEY UH THAN TANN HOAR WEE SUNDER HONAA CHAHIDA HAI. The SGPC has got the primary responsibility for the cleanliness of our “Vatican”. The next responsibility is on the municipality of Amritsar but the overall responsibility is that of the Punjab Government. The Punjabis living abroad should emphasise that this subject is addressed properly. If we want to call Sri Harmander Sahib Jee as seventh/eighth wonder of the world then we got to show to the world that we respect this place so much that we want to keep its surrounding absolutely lean and tidy. Remember cleanliness is next to godliness.

This is a highly serious matter that Gurtej Singh has raised. And the whole community must get involved. Otherwise in the wake of speedy conversion of Sikh youths into MONAs and continued influx of Bhaiyas from Bihar, within the next 10 years SIKHS will be in minority in the so -called PUNJABI SUBA. Mind you, we all will be responsible for the debacle.

Krishanavtar of Dr Harbhajan Singh

Jarnail Singh 415 Old Widsor Road Winston Hills 2153 Australia

Dr Habhajan Singh starts his article with inherently flawed reasoning in order to establish a hypothesis that will distort the very basics of Sikhism. The theory that is the pivot of the entire essay aims to project the Tenth Nanak as different from the First Nanak. He agrees that the verses in Dasam Granth are not in accordance with the philosophy of AGGS, but opines that this is precisely the reason why DG was written, as there was no point in writing the same thing again and again. His intention is to kill two birds with one stone. By proposing this theory he intends to negate the arguments of those who say that DG does not propagate the philosophy of AGGS and also builds a base for making very wild assertions later in the article. However apparently, it is ridiculous and puerile to put forward such a thesis. If we believe in this logic, then why would Guru Angad Dev and all the subsequent Gurus write something, which is absolutely in accordance with the philosophy of the first Guru? The irrefutable fact is that all the ten Nanaks were one "Jyot".

In the second paragraph he says that DG and AGGA are "IK ROOP" but not IK SAMAN". What does he mean by this? He does not bother to explain or substantiate, but goes on to make some generalised statements about various religions and concludes that only Sikhism has the possibilities of being a universal religion. (Later in his article he contradicts this.) He clubs Sikhism under what he calls 'vaidik' religions and says that only these religions, unlike Semitic religions, have tried to keep their organisational and spiritual aspects apart. Further out of these religions, Sikhism is the only religion that can take you to the realms of spirituality even when you are not its active member. He does not explain as to why it is not true for other religions. What is it that holds back a person from enjoying the spirituality of other religions without being a member of those religions? And most importantly, is it possible to be called and recognised as a Sikh without observing the set codes of conduct of Sikhism? If not then this theory is wrong ab intio.

He further argues that AGGS, the fountainhead of spirituality of Sikhism, does not have any guidelines or codes for the organisational structure and development. He enumerates the requirements for organisational structure and development and says that these are available only in DG. First is conflict between good and bad. Second is the belief in the supremacy of ones own religion and the third is an urge for an armed struggle for the establishment of Good and annihilation of Bad. As a result of this AGGS creates Saints and DG creates Soldiers and together they create Saint Soldier. It is evident that these arguments are phoney and do not hold water against reason. Looks like the learned Dr neither has read AGGS nor has he given a serious reading to DG. Conflict between Good and Bad has been widely discussed in AGGS. He conveniently forgets the establishment of Dharmsals, the institution of lunger, the, establishment of Manjies; the tradition of debate, katha and keertan that nurtured Sikhism into an organised religion long before DG was written. The belief in the supremacy of one's own religion does not create a soldier but it does give birth to fanatics. Above all, Sikh history is full of saint soldiers even before the time DG was written. First saint soldier of Sikhism was Guru Nanak. Then think about all the soldiers who fought along side Guru Hargobind, think about Bhai Mati Das, Sati Das, Bhai Dyala… were they not saint soldiers? These saint soldiers prove that DG has got nothing to do with the creation of saint soldiers in Sikhism. It is interesting to note that he quotes Darbar Sahib and Akal Takhat as symbols of Miri Piri (saint soldier). But he forgets that both of these symbols came into existence many many decades before DG was written. Above all good and bad people are not created by any religion or scripture. All creation is in the hands of God. Ram. Ravan, Krishan, Kans are all created by God. You will find their counterparts in other parts of the world as well.

He comes up with a strange definition of Sehajdhari and Armitdhari. Those who beilive in AGGS are Sehajdharis and those who believe in AGGS and DG are Amritdharis. In his opinion this is the reason DG is popular only among Amritdharis. All this shows that he does not even understand the ABC of the concept of Amrit. Bulk of the literature in DG is full of poison not Amrit. He is confusing Amrit with Khande Di Pahul. Amrit has been discussed in AGGS in detail. Amrit as described in AGGS is the teachings enshrined in Gurbani, which every Sikh drinks when he/she reflects on and practises Gurmat in his life. Khande Di Pahul is like admission to the school of Gurmat where you learn to drink Amrit from Gurbani. Guru Nank Dev Ji has made it clear for us all. Guru Nanak Dev Ji has explained this here.

Do we find this kind of Amrit from all writings included in DG? The answer is No.

After giving this weird definition of Sehajdhari and Amritdhari, the learned Dr does not stop here and goes on to declare that, to conceive Khalsa as a universal religion, is what he calls Aurnagjebi Soch as opposed to Guru Ghar Di Soch. In the beginning he proposed that only Sikhism has got the possibilities of being a universal religion. Now he has turned full circle and has shown his true colours by saying that it is impossible in case Sikhism is adopted as per its code of conduct ie if its adherents become "Amritdhari Khalsas".

Sometimes his reasoning is nothing but puerile. For example he says that since DG is popular only among Amritdhari Sikhs so it can not promote Bramanism among Sikhs.

He is right when he says the AGGS is about Akal Purakh and universal truth. But he is saying this only to prepare his ground to utter a big lie a little later in the article. In his opinion AGGS is about what is beyond time and place and DG is the story of what happens within the limitations of time and place. That is the reason why AGGS is full of names of God derived from its qualities. He calls them Kirtam Naam and does not give any example (as that would have exposed his lie). As opposed to this, in his opinion, DG is full of names of God derived from his actions (he calls them Karm Naam) and says that Guru Gobind Singh has made his intentions clear in the first verse in Jaap Sahib by saying, "karm naan barnit sumit". He has given one example of Karm Naam, Murari. God killed devil Mur so it is called Murari. In case he has ever read Jaap Sahib he would have known that the first name of God in Jaap Sahib is "Akaal" which according to him is Kirtam Naam and the name Murari does not appear at all in Jaap Sahib though it does come in AGGS (Mere sajjan meet murare jeo). This shows that he has read neither AGGS nor DG seriously before writing this article. All names in Jaap Sahib can be classified as Kirtam names

Many times in his write up Dr Habhajan Singh goes philosophical but not to reflect on truth instead he uses this as a trick to camouflage the truth. He opines that it is easier to understand what great people say in their lives but it is very difficult to understand their Kautiks or actions. He shuts all doors on rational analysis and says that it is possible that sometimes these actions of great men are not in accordance with what they preach in their life. So much so that sometime, in his opinion, they have to degrade themselves to the level of sinners in order to save the sinners. Here he is cooking up this philosophical dish only to make his readers digest his illogical and absurd statements that he will utter soon. The actions of great people are recorded in Sakhies. These sakhies are not authentic, but he does not question these stories even for a second. In fact he loves to travel in the reverse gear. Instead of understanding concepts of Gurmat from AGGS and then applying them to determine the authenticity or validity of these Sakhies he derives his concepts from these Sakhies to distort concepts and history of Sikhism. This is but has led him to say that there is no difference between Guru Gobind Singh and the promiscuous Lord Krishna making love with his Gopis on the banks of Yamuna. The Kautiks or deeds of great men are the outcome of their undaunted courage and hard work. It is an insult to great people when their deeds are reduced to mere miracles or Kautaks. Over the time the forces opposed to and affected by their deeds tend to construct an aura of miracles around these deeds in order to nullify their effect. Udaasies of Guru Nanak are an example in this regard. Guru Nanak travelled on foot more than eighty thousand miles, confronting all sorts of dangers to convey his message to the common man. But now we have stories running around telling us that he could travel miles and miles by just closing his eyes. What is even more unfortunate is that we have takers for such stories not only in deras but also in the universities.

Now he comes up with a weird distinction between Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh. Guru Nanak in his opinion talks to his Sikhs from a distance or height of respect while Guru Gobind Singh is closer to and mingles with his Sikhs. It does not take much to realise the absurdity of this statement. Guru Nanak travelled approximately eighty thousand kilometres on foot; his companion was from amongst the most down trodden in the society; he went to the house of common men and shared their food; he talked to the outcasts; he talked to the criminals, he empathised with their problems; talked about theirs sufferings and while doing all this gave them his divine message washing away their ignorance; disentangling them from the web of rituals; and most importantly he talked to them in their language and idiom connecting them to God. He lived a life of a common man. He lived the life of a trader, life of a farmer, life of an employee. But here we have a learned person who is saying that he talked from a distance or height.

Now after this long background he starts with the story of Kharag Singh as described in Krishnavtar. Interestingly at the very outset he states that we should not treat every word of it as true. Now as usual he does not tell us which part is to be treated as true or untrue, why it is to be treated as true or untrue, what is the touchstone to be applied. He wants the reader to follow his selection and does not give any reason for this. It is to be noted that all along we have been told that the Tenth Master has written DG. Now we have been told that it will be a mistake if we treat every word of this Granth as true. All this is intended to strike at the very roots of Sikhism, the word of our Guru, the Gurbani. If every word of Guru Gobind Singh is not to be treated as true then how can we say that every word of other Gurus in AGGS is true? Before we go further in the discussion let us see what our Guru says in this regard.

The word of the Guru is unchangeable. The word of the Guru is but makes him a Guru. The word of the Guru is the eternal truth. It is the life line of Sikhs.

It is to be noted here that he has contradicted himself again. Only a few paragraphs earlier the reader was given a sermon that it is easier to understand the words of great people, but it is not easy to understand their Kautaks. And he gives the same reason here to dissuade the readers to do any rational analysis of what has been written in DG. Is DG a kautak or words? It may not be a kautak, but the kautaks of the writer here are really wonderful.

Coming back to the story, Dr Harbhajan Singh is of the opinion that two pen names (Ram and Syam) used in the story are of Guru Gobind Singh. His explanation for having these two pen names is childish. Ram killed Ravan in Treta Yug and Syam Killed Kans in Doyapar Yug. Since the devil of these days have both Ravan and Kans in it, so we need a Ram Syam to kill him. One can only laugh at such propositions. Giani Bhag Singh in his book Dasam Granth Nirnay (page 55) has given following reasons to substantiate his opinion that Ram and Syam are not names of Guru Gobind Singh but they are names of some other poets. The names of these poets along with other poets are mentioned in Mehma Parkash in its 1798 prose edition and then again in poetic version of 1833. Bhai Kahn Singh has acknowledged the existence of these two poets (Ram and Syam) in his Mahan Kosh. Similarly Wilson Cunnigham has recognised Ram and Syam as poets in his writings. Not only this, there is proof in Dasam Granth itself where as poet Ram reveals his identity as resident of Ropar, son of Kesav, caste Trikha. ( Refer Charitar 227 Ank 1). Syam has done so in Krishanavatar at Chand no 2489. Dr Harbhajan Singh has not bothered to take note of any of the existing works on the subject. His one and only aim is to project DG as an authentic writing of Guru Gobind Singh and for this he relies only on figments of his imagination instead of doing any serious academic research.

We are told that this story is different from Puranic stories, hence it is not written by any Brahman. However, (though not surprisingly), again the reader has not been told in what sense it not Puranic and what makes it different from the Puranic literature. The story is the usual spicy stuff cooked in the Puranic style. It is bereft of any logic or rationale. It has in it the entire paraphernalia of Hindu religion. It has all icons of Hindu mythology in it. It has Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Pandavs, Krishan, the beauty squad of Inder and also the Rakshises as characters playing part in it. The story is full of miracles, unusual happenings a la any story about the Hindu gods. What is unusual about this story is that it has characters from Mahabharat in it like Krishan, Pandavs, but there is no such mention of its main character Kharag Singh in Mahabharat or any earlier literature about that period. In a way it is a cocktail of history, mythology and the imaginative creations of the writer. Kharag Singh is a friend of Jarasandh and jumps into battle with Krishan in favour of his friend. He single handedly defeats all armies and kills thousands of enemy soldiers. And as usual all gods come to the help of Krishan and ultimately they succeed in killing him by deceit and cheating. It is full of miracles. At the end of the day the story tends to reinforce following in the mind of the reader.

· Belief in incarnation
· Belief in miracles
· Belief in Brahmanical division of history into Yugs
· Belief in Heaven and Hell
· Belief in the supremacy and irrevocable right of the Brahman to ask for anything in donation.

The above beliefs have been condemned in Gurmatt. Guru Arjan Dev Ji has said that the tongue of a person who says that God takes birth deserves to be burnt. Guru Ram Das makes it clearer:

siqguru myrw sdw sdw nw AwvY n jwie ]
Ehu AibnwsI purKu hY sB mih rihAw smwie ]13]
AGGS, M 4, P 759

Guru Amardas has given his judgement on these incarnations in this manner.

jugh jugh ky rwjy kIey gwvih kir AvqwrI ] AGGS, M 3. P 423

History of Sikhism is full of great deeds not miracles. Regarding the division of time in to Yugs, Guru Nanak Dev Ji has clarified that Kalyug has never been heard of coming to any country on this earth. In fact it is a situation where Tyrants rule the day.

Gurmat does not believe in Heaven or Hell. There are references to Kalyug, Satyug , Heaven and Hell in Gurbani, but these are there as idioms of expression not as tenets of belief.

Dr Harbhajan Singh in his write up has not focused on the story and its substance; instead he has spent his energy on interpretation of unusual names that come in the story. We find many names in the story with Sing at the end and his imagination goes fertile interpreting and ascribing meanings to these names. The name Sar spurs him to attach it with Sarbloh. If the warriors come in a group of five he interprets it as precursor of Five Beloved ones. One thing that is unusual is that these names with Singh at the end are on both sides of fighting armies. He has not given any explanation of this. There are some Muslim names also. And his interpretation here is weird. The name Ajaib and Gairat has been interpreted as Pir Budhu Shah. Because, to him, it looks odd and strange that a Muslim should come to the help Guru Gobind Singh, so he is Ajaib(Strange). This only shows his ignorance of Sikh history and theology.

At the end of the story Kharag is said to have gone to heaven with his body.

Dr Harbhajan Singh proclaims that this story is full of priceless teachings for the common man. He gives one example of this. When Kharag Singh gives a sermon to Brahma saying that one should die fighting for God. It is apparent this sermon is anti Gurmat. God in Gurmat is not fighting with any one. It is ridiculous if we imagine God as someone who has to engage in a battle for victory. God does not have an enemy. God is Nirvair. It has been made clear in the very first verse in AGGS. It is also to be noted that Kharag Singh is telling a lie here. He was fighting for Jarasandh against Krishan. Krishan as per Hinduism represents Good and Jarasandh represents Bad. So he was fighting against Good. But despite all this the reader has been told to digest this anti Gurmat lie as a piece of priceless wisdom. Dr Harbhajan Singh has also cleverly hinted that Chrritropakhan is also written by Guru Gobind Singh and contains some very good lessons for Sikhs. However the readers can judge for themseves. Here are some examples.

These are only a couple of examples and the entire Chritropakhayan is full of this kind of shit. It will be interesting if Dr Harbhajan Singh can find some metaphysical explanations for these "pearls of wisdom".
The real reason why Dr Harbhajan Singh has written earlier that it is a mistake if we take every word written in DG as true is that it contains such writings. In Krishanavtar also the writer promotes drugs, sex etc. For this Chand nos 2112,2115 and 2116 are examples wherein Krishan, Arjan etc have been shown as taking drugs like opium, poppy husk, liquor and enjoying dance from women (Ramjanis).

In the end I would like to say that any discussion on DG should be based on following assumptions.

· All Sikh Gurus have propagated the same philosophy
· There is no difference between the life and teachings of Sikh Gurus.
· The one and only touchstone is AGGS.

Only then we can reach at some conclusions.

Mr. Saeed Naqwi sahib forget to condemn naked American imperialist aggression in IRAQ, few days ago American invaders used aerial bombs against IRAQI POOR MASSES .RECENTLY IN FEW DAYS IN fallujah THEY KILLED 600+

the old,the sick, poor workers, children and women.

This western imperialism naked aggression is against all norms of international morality and legality, American and British cant impose their own law and western style democracy to IRAQ.One of key reasons Bush and Blair reject immediate elections is precisely their fear that Shia parties would win a majority, hereby posing dangers and threats to imperialist interest. Significantly, while they have allowed some local elections in few areas as 'experiments', the US cancelled the others, notably in NAJAF, the city where Al-sistani himself is based. The US is skeptical that they could work with a Shia majority, fearing a Lebanon - style and religious division of the country and the emergence of regime hostile to the US, developments which would destabilized the region. BUSH and Blair are therefore making all kinds of excuses as to why elections have to come later. in other words, when they have been able to find a way out of this impasse.

What has taken place is the exact opposite of what Bush and Blair hoped for, instead of their war leading to a stabilization of region and creation of more client states, the war has destabilized the middle east.

They are finding it increasingly difficult to find a workable exit strategy from IRAQ that leaves a reliable pro-US regime behind. In this sense Bush's war is already turning in to a disaster for the long term interests of imperialism. It becomes clear to Iraqis that Bush and his Gang are determined to shape Iraq as a client state, the resistance will deepen and start to develop a mass character. Joint struggles of Shia and Sunni can defeat American imperialism and invaders from their soil.

IN MANY COUNTRIES, including both the US and Britain, there are calls from capitalist politicians and strategists for Bush to change course and let United Nations attempt to defuse the Iraqi situation by taking over more control of the occupation. these proposals are partly linked to the continuing tensions and differences between main imperialist rivalries in the middle east. But, in a situation of rising Iraq heroic struggles on US occupation. there could be an attempt to bring UN in , possibly to work alongside some kind of nominal Iraqi administration.

International communities and progressive forces should support the call for immediate elections ,the withdrawal of the imperialist occupying forces. Only the rebirth of IRAQI workers movement on socialist lines could prevent this type of development (SHIA and SUNNI divisions) by uniting workers and poor masses in a common struggle against AMERICAN occupation and capitalism.

After death of someone , only few remains critics while a number of people will follow the policy,"Challo Chhaddo jee, maran wala mar gia". Mr. Tohra had some good qualities. He was considered honest and hard working even by apposition. Can anybody answer this question, "Is SGPC which was lead by Sardar Tohra is not among the most corrupt Sikh organisations? and who is reponsible for that ? Why not Panth Rattan to Mr. Badal, Bibi Jagir Kaur etc .As per I know it was not presented to even undisputed personalities like Bhai Teja Singh Samundri. When Mr. Badal will die he will surely be presented Panth Rattan. I am not comparing these personalites. Mr. Tohra was much better than Badal in my thinking. Mr. Tohra will be known for his greatness particularly  when we come to know, the persons occupying his position. Mr. Arvinderpal Singh Pakhoke is now serving as Acting President og SGPC. In his last tenure as Acting President he employed huge number of unwanted sevadars that someone had to approach the sgjc to stop them working. Bhul Chuk Muaf.

 regards,
 Jasbir Singh
